During undergrad, I would get up in the morning and brew a pot of coffee before heading off to class. Sometimes I would stop with just the one pot. Sometimes I'd drink part of a second pot. It got to the point where I would get really bad headaches if I didn't have coffee a couple hours after I woke up. Then I would have so much coffee and caffeine coursing through my veins that I would get the shakes.
One year for Lent I decided to give up coffee. The first week or so was absolute hell. I had headaches and shakes at the same time. I was irritable (both in mood and bowel). But after that initial detox period I was fine.
All I can say is that in my experience, it sucks balls going off the java at the start but you get over it eventually. Stick with it and try not to kill anyone in the process.
