I have my doubts that the Island will ever be destroyed, or whether the MIB will ever be contained beyond what he is now. If you could somehow forever imprison Lockemonster then you really wouldn't need a long term candidate, you'd need a suicide bomber, and thats not how they're really building up Jack for example.
I still have this feeling in my gut that the game on the Island never ever ends and will go on for eternity in a balance of good versus evil.
I just think it would be far more powerful if both Locke and Jack somehow don't continue in the AR, and end up sitting on the beach hating each other while continuing to play the game.
But I think that Jack's final gift will be to make the AR a reality for the rest of the Lost crew.
That way the Island remains a secret.
But I'm just spitballing.
I just love the idea of the MIB in the form of Locke sitting on the Island and Jack walks up
Jack "Good Morning"
Locke "Want some breakfast"
Jack "No thanks"
Locke "You don't know how much I want to kill you"
They both look out to see a boat coming in and smile at the idea of the game continuing.
Then we flash to the other people in the AR getting on with their lives.
Except for Desmond.
I think he's the key to sending the people home, and pushing the cork back in or resetting the rules.
