I think that rule was abrograted because it was Sawyer that caused the death not Darth Locke. He's dead, there was pretty much nothing else for the Suns to do on the Island, but they live on in the AR.

I think Hurley will have to die as well.

I think in the end we're going to see the Locke Monster sitting on the beach offering Jack breakfast and then telling Jack how much he wants to kill him.

In the AR Locke decides to have the surgery and dies on the table. Sawyer and Kate die on the Island and become Adam and Eve in the cave.

We go back to the beach and see Jack and MIB watching a cruise ship on the horizon.

Then we flash to a hotel room bathroom, and the curtain opens to reveal a full frontal of Hurley who proclaims that he has to stop eating the flame thrower burrito because it gives him weird dreams.
