On a side note, for those of you that live in Cranston, that's a nice new pub that Berwick House, but good god is there ever a lot of a D-bags that frequent it. Even saw a scrap outside there the other night. Where are they all coming from? When I was in Cranston it was sort of a family neighboorhood, not a place for the riggers to get smashed on the weekend. I'm surprised they weren't having drag races in the parking lot.

I live in the Deep South (Lake Sundance) and I drive to the deep North (close to the Airport). Drive takes 25 to 30 minutes 95% of the time.
As for shopping or groceries statement, that is completely false. There are numerous shopping centers & groceries stores no more than a 10 minute drive.
Basically anyone that lives in an outer area of the city the commute using transit (to downtown) will be a problem.
As for Pubs, there are numerous pubs in communities in the South that is no problem... For example Chaparral has a popular Pub.
In my opinion the most important element is the School system.... Lots of areas don't have schools and bus the kids to different sections of the City.
