1) Ummm, no idea.
2) Assuming that means line of sight, no, not really. If I go for the repeater option I could have it in an upstairs room which would allow for line of sight, and no cement in the way. I've looked at the antennas, but wiring it from the router downstairs to somewhere outside might be an issue.
Without a lot of backstory, I'm looking to share a single internet connection. It doesn't require (and in fact I would prefer it not) networking the two homes. The second home will pretty much only need it for email and web surfing. No major downloads, torrents, gaming, etc.
