No he wasn't. He was a concensus 1st ROUND pick and was one of the top 3 rated going in that draft along with Brady Quinn and Kevin kolb IIRC, but they could have been selected in any order and no one would have been surprised. Davis just started to gush over the guy after the combine....and we all know what that means in the end.
His size and athletic ability was never ever in question I agree, but everyone questioned his attitude and his work ethic to make it at the NFL level.
Oh...and i have no idea how DHB is considered a bust at this point...that team is completely dysfunctional and until they settle the QB spot in particular and the whole team in general, its hard to know how good or bad any of their players are, especially on offense. The kid has played ONE year...in oakland....no way to know how he will pan at this point in time. No question he was a massive reach at the spot they took him, but thats not his fault.
