One thing I've noticed about Americans is that you guys are very fanatical about your flags down there.
After Sept 11th, they put up an American flag at the community centre, and it had the smallest little rip in the corner. Like you literally had to walk up to the flag and inspect it it to even notice it, and our neighbours (originally from the States), called it a disgrace, and asked the guys at the community centre to either replace it, or just not have one up at all.
On one hand, we understood that even though the rip was so small that 99% of people wouldn't even notice it unless they were closely inspecting the flag, that it still matters very much to Americans that a flag is 100% clean and free of blemishes, on the other hand, we were kind of like "FFS, we're just trying to support you guys when your country needs it, and we had only good intentions by putting it up there".
