RCMP and Canada Border Services Agency have been trying to put a dent in this. During the Vancouver Olympics alone, CBSA seized 40,000 fake jerseys that had been shipped from China. That's incredible considering most shipments arrive in small orders ... 5, 10 or 20 at a time. It's not like seizing one giant container shipment.
The mounties have already received complaints from the NHL and the Flames regarding the fake jerseys. People selling knock-offs outside the dome obviously hasn't gone unnoticed.
While it's illegal to sell these jerseys, it's not illegal to buy them. But, cops will seize and destroy them if the shipment is detected.
