They did it IMO to survive. ROME failed because it was way to expensive. Give a little in the C.G.I. get a lot in the B.O.O.B.S.! I laughed a lot at those graphics but I adjusted. I also think, even if it's not popular now, they are trying to create their own "look". I've adjusted and now I kinda like it.
