We've had one for two years actually. A red 2008 SE5 (semi-auto).
Let me list the biggest pros and cons first:
Biggest pro: people treat you like a rock star.
and
Biggest con: people treat you like a rock star.
The attention can be a lot of fun, a huge ego boost, and all around good... up to the point where you're running on fumes and desperatly seeking a gas station without some dude who's going to chat your ear off for 30 minutes...
Real pros:
* All the fun of riding on two wheels with the stability of three. I don't worry near as much about gravel, hidden black ice, or off angle intersections as I do riding a bike.
* A clear, upright, comfortable riding position.
* A good level of factory and aftermarket parts support.
* A great dealer in Calgary (Bowcycle who've been super).
* Good for single or two-up riding.
Pro/Con depending on perspective:
* It doesn't lean like a bike so the riding is actually trickier in the twisties. You have to ride it a lot like a ski doo (I know, go figure) with a lot of sliding your butt back and forth on the seat to weight the inside of the corner. This is of course far less the case if you're just out for a quiet Sunday afternoon ride.
Cons:
* Bit expensive (buy what cool new groundbreaking product isn't).
* The stupid questions you'll end up answering a hundred times over...
