There will not be an land invasion of Iran.

Even though the American's would have a big advantage in quality of armoured vehicles, tanks and artillary, and the individual infantry man is far better trained then the cannon fodder poorly trained average shmuck in Iran, the American's won't want to deal with the quagmire.

The Iranian airforce is a joke, its made up of old F-14's and various other vintage jets salted with some advanced Russian Airframes. Their antiair defense doesn't have a counter for America's stealth technology, or America's capability to deploy highly accurate sea launched cruise missiles, and don't forget that America could deploy hyper accurate long range satellite aimed artillery right on their border.

The American's would paste Iran from the air, if they get really pissed they would knock down every building over a story tall, destroy their energy and military industry, knock down every government building, go hard after republican guard barracks to weaken them.

But I doubt that an American foot would touch Iranian soil.

The goal would be to force the Iranians to rebuild their country for the next 500 years.
