I don't really know numbers wise how they stack up against each other. One significant edge Iran would have would be "intangibles" I guess you could call them. Iranian soldiers are fresh, and would be extremely motivated to defend their nation, as well they would be fighting on territory they know better than anyone. US soldiers who are already spread thin as it is would have low morale and probably wary from tours already in Iraq and Afghanistan.


One thing is for certain; there are few countries if any that can match US air power and air superiority. That would be the kicker right there.


However It would have to be a drastic situation for the west to consider military action of any kind against Iran. I hope I don't see it in my lifetime.
