I love the cover, one of my favorite covers, but I still don't understand how anyone can say it holds a candle to the original. The original is just so much more raw, especially with the fuzz out at the end covering up the last line. Much more of a downer for sure.

I think a lot of people think of the video remake and where Cash was in his life and it's strikes a bigger chord, but that really has nothing to do with the remake of the song itself.

For that matter, I don't understand how anyone can say ANY cover is better than the original. You may like it more, but in every single instance, I think you gotta give the kudos to the original for the concept.

For example, I love Marilyn Manson's cover of Sweet Dreams. Completely different than the original, a total rebirth of the song. But I'd never dare say it's better than the original. Even if the original is an overplayed 80's pop song. (Just mussing up some feathers, I really like the original too and think it was some of the 80's music that broke the trend, or at least started the trend)
