Judging by the amount of gems coming out of various educational institutions nowadays, I don't think a mandated course is going to help alot of them. You can't fix stupid.
As someone previously mentioned, most of us here would have been raised back in the day of no internet, no "on demand" telephone help services or the various other things that are already at hand for new parents. Joking aside, we have all turned out okay.
There's enough services out there for new parents and expecting parents, people are either too lazy to look it up and register or the OBY/GN are not informing parents of options out there. Plus, you're about to be a new parent. The time to take a little accountability and think/act for yourself and not demand someone hold your hand through the process and make it easy.
