24 hr suspension is just that. It will be listed in the Police Service's database, but doesn't go to insurance etc. Car gets towed and impounded which can be expensive.
If you had 1-3 beer at the game over a 3 hr period and go through a checkstop or get pulled for speeding or something and you lie to the cop, he/she is going to take you to task (Put your lips on the straw and blow until I tell you to stop... "clicking sound"... 0.01, going to suspend your DL for 24 hrs and impound your vehicle). If you tell him/her what you drank over what period, he/she will likely make a judgement call ("3 beers in 3 hours = Probably a 0.01 if that") and cut you lose.
