I loved the good old days where the most complex button combination used on a controller was 'hold b... and move' to run fast. 10 seconds tops to learn a new game, unlike all this x, r, white button, double joystick garbage seen nowadays that baffles the hell outta me.
Definitely think Mario and Ninja Turtles for original nintendo are great games. Older NHL games were also pretty enjoyable as well. Anyone remember 'Stanley Cup Hockey' with the bug that let you flip the puck from the blue line over the tenders head into the net? Many, many two-player 30-29 games were enjoyed at the expense of that gem they let slip by...
Nowadays, Counter-Strike takes the cake IMO. So incredibly simple yet so incredibly addicting. Buy gun. Use gun to kill enemies. Killing enemies gets you money. Use money to buy better gun. Use better gun to kill enemies more effectively. And so forth...
