so my stash bit the bullet, but I am now running windows7 and enjoying (mostly) my old hardware. I gave up on the old ntldr file and just took my data (what little there is) from that drive.

new parts: 2gb ram, 40gb ssd, vid card.
old parts: second HD, optical drives, motherboard, processor, etc.

So it's like a brand new computer, without a brand new computer.

Still not sure if the PS is going to last... but that's easy to get a new one.
