You know, redneck is a fine example here. The term began as a description for labourers who worked hard. They were out working in the sun so long that their neck was permanently red. A redneck was an honest, hard-working individual. Somewhere along the way, it got a negative connotation and now some people...except Mickey...take it as an insult.
