Buying into a condominium before the building is constructed comes with risks such as your reader has outlined. Typically the Purchase and Sale agreement states that there may be changes, delays or as in this case a require to register by a certain date or the project will not move ahead. There are often sales tests to be met as well. It is important that buyers of new construction condominiums have their lawyers review the Purchase Contract and that they have the document package reviewed by a company like ours - Condo-Check before they remove the condition to proceed. They then will be aware of what is expected and what the risks are. This gentleman has expressed the frustration of experiencing such a loss quite well.
