Man, I'd have thought Mauer would have taken a so-called "hometown discount" to stay with the team. Crazy expensive deal for the guy though. Probably worth it now, but the term is huge and it is the Twins, so it is a huge discrepency for their overall team payroll structure.
Nathan's loss is massive for the Twins. IMO, probably the best closer in baseball goes down. Hopefully he returns better than ever next year, though that's doubtful considering surgery is rarely something that works out great for pitchers.
