I've had a long 3 days of flying, and just before I left Calgary I picked up "The Pacific" by Hugh Ambrose to read while sitting in various airports.

I would strongly suggest that anyone who intends on watching this series buys the book; it goes into great detail regarding the HBO show, the battles, and a lot of the tactics and situations that were even shown in the first episode.

I was always quite interested in the European campaign and not necessarily the Pacific, so for me the book has actually been quite enlightening. It's a great read so far.
