I have a 3D-Ready TV. I'm not 100% sure sure how much compatibility it will have with 3D broadcasts (coming to Canada when?) or Blu-Ray. Right now my content all comes from my OC, and I haven't bought any field-sequential DVDs with 3D Blu-Ray coming out.

Not everyone will need a new 3D Blu-Ray. If your Blu-Ray player happens to be a PS3 it will update itself for 3D. Actually I'm reading now that any Blu-Ray player that can receive updates will be able to support at least half-resolution 3D, which is what my TV does anyways, so I'm thinking I'll be okay.

I'm not really an A/V guy, especially on the audio side. Tried hooking my HDPVR up to my Logitech Z-5500s, but couldn't get the audio to sync with the picture and went back to using my TV speakers.

I suspect I will need new glasses. My nVidias are locked to the PC. So I could throw a BR drive into my machine for 3D BR, or go for the PS3 and new glasses.

The one thing I won't be doing though is buying a new TV right away. I'll stick with the type of content I have if it comes to that, but I don't think it will.
Yeah, it seems like you're well positioned to wait, if you want 3D. I'm just saying if a person is looking for a new receiver or BR player, and might want to go 3D, he may want to look for 3D compatible items.

I'm not in love with the HDMI connection. It seems flimsy, the cable can slip out easily, and the handshake problems with HDCP are well documented but as you say Display Port just complicates the issue.

Your HDPVR isn't a Bell 9242 is it? They've done umpteen updates and the audio sync problems still exist. It was double trouble for me as I also have an LG TV which has it's own sync problems so I run the audio through my receiver but I'd like a receiver that adjusts the sync because otherwise the 9242 is great.

I just read that 1.3 HDMI cables should be able to transfer 3D so we won't have to upgrade the cables either.
