While I am no scientific expect or claim a high degree of knowledge in either side of this discussion, I believe - having known zulu for nearly 15 years now - I'm pretty much an expert on him...albeit a non peer reviewed one.
While I don't necessarily agree 100% with all his views (and for the record I don't agree with 100% of your views either) I will say he is one of, if not the, most well read and critical thinkers I know of. Attacking him on his knowledge is not a tactic I would recommend.
Recognizing this topic does not have a binary answer and both "positions" make up the puzzle is key to understanding it fully and understanding the the motivations of some of the main "thought leaders".
