The problem for Krasinski in my mind is that his performance is going to have to be better than other candidates to overcome semi-typecasting. People associate him with Jim's role only (goofy, love-struck, corny, funny). He's really going to have to deliver to make people forget about that.

Even if he hadn't totally cleaned up his life, that was part of what would have made him perfect for Tony Stark since Stark's kryptonite is actually rampant alcoholism. I'm surprised they didn't go into it much in the first movie.
