With the older cars you speak of, a sticky throttle was fairly common.
LOL, I wouldn't trade the days of fixing beaters with bailing wire and duct tape in the Canadian tire parking lot for anything. Really, who under the age of 30 knows what to do with a carbeurator rebuild kit. It was like a right of passage to have a massive piece of crap car, that wouldn't start unless you knew the exact number of gas pedal pumps, and where the doorbell button was under the dash that you installed because the factory iginition tumbler was too expensive for you to afford.......from pick your part.

I actually rebuilt a 12A Mazda wankel rotory engine using a Chiltons, $250 dollars worth of parts, and my dads tools. I was 17 at the time, and it was the most complex thing I ever did in my life even until now, and that engine ran for 7 more years, as I sold the car to a guy down the street who drove it into the ground. New drivers, especially the guys, really will miss out on what I thought was some of the coolest experiences I had when I was young.

And no.... installing a Carbon fibre hood, and a Mugen power decal is not the same.
