Why?

Because we're emotionally attached to our pets. They may not be able to speak to us, but they are still smarter than we think and still do non-verbal things that demonstrate the bond some of us do create with our household pets. So why wouldn't we choose something we are emotionally attached to and have known for perhaps ten years over a complete stranger?

I think it's when we're choosing our pets over our family members when we've got problems. I mean, an animal you're emotionally attached over a human you're emotionally attached too?

Is it wrong to want to save your pet over a stranger? Perhaps. But I don't think anyone could dispute that most people would take something they're emotionally attached to over something they're not attached to.

Or that I've used the words emotionally attached too many times in this post.
I'm emotionally attached to human beings.
