There's definitely no better option than playing in an outdoor rink. Perhaps you can convince your community association to leave the rink open, but just lock up the nets? That's what ours did with the replacement nets when the other set was stolen. Then just have everyone who comes out pitch in for two of your own decent quality nets.

If the rinks still have water in them we play on the tarmac of a school against the biggest wall (half court). If there are only a couple of us we'll play on someone's street (which sucks when you shoot wide).
