Well:
a) it remains to be seen if other countries ramp up thier funding to women's programs and disciplines.
b)Success breeds success. Kids in this country was able to see this country compete and challenge in most events. As PM Harper said today on CTV, the country was 2nd in top 6 finishes, nevermind 2nd or 3rd in total medals.
Not just that, kids and the next generation of Olympians see the top finishes, medals, and gold medals across all sports in 2010, and may now want to take up something other then hockey as they grow up, and more talent to choose from means probably better athletes and results.
Kids also can aspire to also be on top of that podium just like they are seeing now in 2010, and not consider/be happy with personal bests or top 10 finishes like Canadian athletes in this country had to previously 10+ years ago in Olympics, as "success".
