Table Tennis is another example. At the last Olympics, the only medals that weren't won by China were the silver and bronze in the team events because China only had one team.

Come on, give me a break. There is fierce competition in luge or table tennis, even if one country is the best. Every participant is very good, just some are consistently a shade better. Just like basketball (I hate the sport btw and hardly ever watch it) - Americans almost always win, but there is a whole bunch of countries that are very good (as seen by the multinational nature of NBA rosters). In women's hockey, there are 2 (TWO!) competitors - everyone else is pathetic and getting worse relative to US/Canada, judging by the Finns and Swedes at these Olympics.
