Pens look to special teams to improve in huge rivalary game!
The Pittsburgh Penguins have been struggling to find consistency lately and they are hoping the infusion of a few new bodies might help get their special teams back on track and lead to a much needed win over the division rival Flyers.
The Pens are 2-3 in their last 5 with the special teams telling the story. The Pens have had the man advantage just 5 times in those 5 games combined. The power play has been none existent even when given the chance going 0-5.
The PK has been just as bad as the PP has been. The Pens have given their opponents 22PP's over the 5 game span and have given up 8 goals. That is a Pk rate of just 63%.
The standings in the Gretzky is tough and the Pens and Flyers sit tied with 77 points. The Flyers hold 4 games in hand however,so if The Pens want to gain some much needed ground a win tonight is very important.
If the Pens can get some PP opportunities look for Ovechkin and Crosby to take to the ice together and try to breath some much needed life into the PP.
This should be a great game!! Look for both teams to come out hungry tonight!
