Obviously there are exceptions and perhaps the negativity about Americans is just being posted more frequently. Of all my local Canadian friends, I can't think of a single one who views America, or Americans, as negatively as some of people on this message board. If anything, the fact that the Americans want our hockey team to beat Canada so badly is a compliment. Do you think we don't know who the favorite is. Funny thing about my American hockey friends, when/if the US gets eliminated, we root for CANADA! Its a real shame Canadians can't embrace us the same way. I honestly believe we are more alike than different.
Sorry for the soapbox. I really am curious about the hatred and would like to know where it comes from, hopefully without more name calling.

personally if Canada doesn't win the gold, i hope it goes to the US. aside from the positive things it would do for hockey south of the border, it would be a great story for Brian Burke personally. and with them riding such a hot goaltender and getting timely goals when they need them, they do have an air of the Miracle on Ice team about them. it would also be very hypocritical of me to hate Americans since my dad was born there and his entire side of the family are all still there
that's why i'm really hoping for a Canada/USA final, that would be epic
