As long as Ric McIver is not Calgary's next mayor. McIver is all about political grandstanding. He is only against things, rather than having any sort of real vision for where Calgary should be going as a big city.
As unpopular as Bronconnier has been, at least he actually got things built in Calgary. LRT, road improvements, downtown revitalization in earnest. He started to stear Calgary in the direction of a big city, rather than the backwater with a huge infrastructure deficit he inherited from do-nothing Duerr. He also took on issues that were less than sexy such as smart growth, financing growth and putting in fiscal frameworks and agreements with developers that made them more responsible for taking on some of the burden of the cost of outward growth of the city.
