His presence deflected pressure from Sakic, Yzerman, Iginla, and others, and that is not something that has taken place in Vancouver. Ideally, Niedermayer and Iginla should be leading this team; so far, Niedermayer has been very disappointing and Iginla has been stuck on the bench for much of the time. The amount of pressure this places on Sidney Crosby is quite possibly affecting his ability to play the way he is capable of. In my opinion, Niedermayer needs to step up, and Iginla needs to be given the chance to do the same.
