He's been at the bottom of the depth chart to begin with.
10 min of icetime in Game 1, and he still got a hattrick.
At least in 02 Quinn took a relatively young Iginla and gave him the chance to succeed, and when Iginla played well he kept him together with the top center at the time, Sakic.
Babcock on the other hands seems to have some pride issues going on. That or he's just a frickin' moron.
Benching Iginla wasn't the only mistake he made. He benched Seabrook for a period and a half including OT, benched Doughty after a Swiss player basically held him in a bear hug to prevent him from getting back on the first Swiss goal, put together the Richards/Iginla/Morrow line, who had a hell of a shift and then he benched all 3 of them for the rest of the game.
Not to mention putting Getzlaf and Boyle on the PP constantly, despite neither of them doing jack all game long.
Weber was playing one heck of a game, and he has the big shot. Why on God's green earth wouldn't you have him on the PP?
If Gretzky played for Team Canada right now I swear Babcock would use him to win faceoffs and then bench him for the rest of the game.
