Iggy may not be African or American, but he's more African-American than a large majority of self labeled African-Americans. With an African father and an American mother, he fits the label better than black Americans who could be 5 or 6 generations removed from their African ancestry.
At the end of the day I think African-American is a stupid and very often misused title, and most people probably don't even know the true definition of it, myself included. To me, to be an African-American you need to have been born in Africa and then emigrated to America. Jarome is a Canadian with black skin. Shani Davis is an American with black skin. Nothing more, nothing less.
