He got a hat trick playing on a line with the best player in the world against a completely overmatched team with a carpenter for a goalie.
All this "see, look what he can do with a good linemate" is just ridiculous.
Guys like Crosby and Nash and other "first line skilled linemates" aren't just out there for the taking. And the fact that Phaneuf watched tonight's game on TV and wasn't even on the radar for the Olympic team tells me that he wasn't going to fetch anybody quite as talented as so many of us seem to think.
