Default Transferring video from PVR to HD

There are a fair number of shows that I've recorded on my PVR that I'd like to keep. Like the "Bob and Doug McKenzie" special and the last episode of ER. But I'd rather keep them on my hard drive than on a DVD... and I don't have a VCR anymore so VHS tape is out.

What is the easiest way to get something from the PVR to the HD?

The PVR is Rogers Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8000 and has DVI ports, but Rogers have them deactivated. Same with the firewire port. So I think analog is the only way to go.

So I'm thinking maybe a flash camcorder or an HDD camcorder is going to be necessary?

I was thinking of using capture software, but the PVR is upstairs in the entertainment unit and very difficult to move. And the computer is here in the basement.
