Question Video interference: how do I stop it?

I thought I'd left these problems in the 90s when the VCR went out the window (I actually threw it out the window. Hit a kid. Felt bad. Lesson learned).

Anyway, now I've got a blu-ray player, running into a receiver, running into the TV. A surround speaker package also goes through the receiver.

Whenever I play a DVD, there's a light vertical band that rolls across the screen from right to left. It cycles about once a second. The band doesn't obscure the picture, it's just like it overexposes the part it's passing over, like someone scrolling a narrow flashlight across the screen.

I thought it might be magnetic interference from the speaker cables, so separated them from the video cables - but no luck. I'm out of tricks. So I'm doing what any sane person would do: consult a hockey forum.

Has anyone ever had this problem? More importantly, has anyone ever fixed this problem?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
