If you drink coffee without cream and sugar in it (the way it was meant to be drank) then you will be able to tell the difference between between the cheap stuff and better stuff.
However, if a coffee bean has been roasted, it's stale within a couple of days, meaning basically all the fresh ground coffee you enjoy is stale.
