$7 million dollar players with baggage and upside can be attained down the road if we want to take that chance. Sutter apparently didn't want to take the chance this time around, and I have to believe he knows what he's doing and you (who does not operate on the inside) does not.

Totally agreed that I am not on the inside with Sutter. We forget that he was the guy that gave Phaneuf that contract... WRT the cap hit, last time i checked Schenn was still on an entry level contract for next season as well...so if we wanted cap relief that was the way to go. i don't question trading phaneuf...i question the return. let's face it, if we really wanted to dump salary we don't have to sign jokinen and bourque, or we can get signed players and just dump them for draft picks.
If we believe that our forwards weren't performing, then we should trade forwards, not dmen. throwing aulie in and taking mayers to me... well...
i stand by my statement that if we don't get out of the first round sutter should be fired. this is his team. this is his cap. these are his contracts. these are his results. btw, i would be ecstatic to quote myself and admit to being an idiot and sutter being the master...'cause that would be nothing but good.
