I spend a lot of time sitting on the couch reading newspaper articles, blogs, forums, etc. For those tasks, I don't need to multitask. An iPod's screen is too small, and I don't always want to sit at my desk.

Right now I have a netbook that I take to class for taking notes and an iPod to listen to music on the go (and a blackberry pearl for phone calls, email, etc). Ideally, I would have a desktop for when I want to sit down and really do some work and a tablet for when I want to sit on the couch and relax with a book/blog/newspaper/movie. See? Different products, different functions.
See, that is the problem for me -- I don’t want another device and it seems like that’s what the iPad is offering:

“Here’s something to throw in your backpack along with your laptop and phone for some of those things that you could do on your iPhone but with a bigger screen and/or a few of the things you could do on your laptop but with a slicker UI. And don’t forget your connectors for each one!”
