Just reading through the last few pages of this thread, I see the Saints are being counted out yet again. Good, I like it that way. Its the Saints, we're used to being underdogs. I'll be the first to say that Peyton Manning scares me, he's the only QB in this league that makes me crap my pants when my team plays him. Every time he plays the Saints he just goes off. Granted, this is the best Saints D he'll have faced, but I still don't doubt his ability to carve up our D. The key to beating Manning is pressure(no kidding), and considering how much time Favre had to throw most of yesterday, that's a scary thought. I would not be stunned if Manning had a big game, and I agree that the Colts should probably be considered the favourites.
HOWEVER, if you're completely writing off the Saints in this game, I think you need to look at the match-ups more. That's a pretty vulnerable Colts secondary if you ask me. Brees and the Saints O have preyed on inexperienced secondaries alot this season(re: Pats). The Colts have a solid D, but the Vikings they are not. I see some big point potential for the league's #1 offence coming into this one, and if you don't then I think you are kidding yourself. I could see this being a high-scoring, last-team-to-have-the-ball-wins type of game.
Even if the Colts do win, I will be bitterly disappointed but over-all will still be very satisfied with this season. After that 13-0 start, I felt a loss in the conference play-offs would be a big letdown. But getting to the Super Bowl is uncharted waters for the Saints, and is a big step to becoming recognized as a legit, strong franchise(lets face it, even during this big year, whenever the Saints would slip you'd still hear that "I knew it, its still the Aints" type comments). I couldn't be happier with what has happened this season.
Judging by the comments of many posters on both this board, the other non-Saints board I'm on(where they sound like they do here), and the early Vegas line, the Colts are clearly the favourites. New Orleans doesn't have a ton of pressure on them, they just need to go in and do their thing. If they lose, it was still an unforgettable season. And if they win, I'm gonna go off like its 1999.
