So Avatar probably going to have to wait.
Same thing happened to me, was not able to purchase tickets online, stupid thing never worked. I finally got fed up and saw it in Real3D instead, and purchased Imax tickets for a later (several days) show at the same time. I had to stand in line both times (longer for Imax) but it was worth it, the visual experience is mind boggling, worth every penny.

I was not enamored by the story, but it is good enough where I just didn't care. It's the kind of movie that stays with you because the imagery is so vivid. The visual effects are beyond what I was expecting, and I was expecting a lot. At no time did I not believe the CG scenes were absolutely realistic. To be able to create an entire alien ecosystem and an alien race of humanoids in digital, and make the physics, the look, the emotions, everything, photo realistic is, well no words really.
