Goes back to the root of this problem, the affiliates complaining about a poor lead-in for their news, which wasn't the case with Carson. Why is everyone ignoring the actual problem here? What is NBC gonna do then you ask? They're going to start putting scripted dramas at 10 pm and hopefully find something that does well so they can sell some ads. They don't care as much about late night as some people think.

What NBC is looking at right now is shows like CSI: NY, CSI: Miami, The Good Wife, and The Mentalist... coincidentally all CBS offerings but they're shows that are pulling decent 18-49 numbers at 10 pm and that is what matters to broadcast networks because they sell ads to make money.
