Not a bad last show. He made an effort to speak of the good times with the network and made zero comments towards Zucker or Leno.
If this was a year from now, with a different comedian taking over, and it was handled more appropriately by NBC, there would not have been a massive outpouring.
NBC did not give Conan the same courtesy that previous hosts had to build the show. Then they decided to move Jay back to cover their own mistakes. And the topper was Jay actually agreeing to all this. Combine that with details being released online all the time and ther other late night shows taking jabs, it became even larger.
I admit I wasn't watching from month 2-7. It just wasn't the same quality as Late Night. And I don't think he ever would have had the same ratings as Leno. Hopefully NBC does a better job in 5 years when Leno retires and doesn't screw someone else over
