In fact, a large number of insurgents and potential terrorists out there are educated, young, and easily influenced. The Taliban gets hold of an American weapon (which isn't that hard), they notice biblical references on them. They release the information and use it as more propaganda to influence and brain wash people against America and more-so against the West. Little Ali down the street going to college sees this as further evidence that the US is doing nothing more than waging a Holy War while lying in the process.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out this was a bad idea, whether you approve of the war or not.
