Or maybe it means that the Leno show was set to fail from the get go. it was a big gamble (comedy at prime time) and it did not work. He had to compete with all the prime time shows, not the comedy fillers. Leno at 11:35 is a winner and has been for 15 years

You make it sound excusable that Leno's show failed. His show didn't work because people are sick of watching him on TV. I understand he had good ratings right until the end of his run at 11 30, but TV audiences were watching him for the past 5 years knowing that he was gone within a short time. There is a lot of hate out there towards Leno right now. I haven't seen an online poll that Conan didn't destroy Leno in.
You're going to see his ratings continue to be low when he moves back to 11 30. Conan will go to FOX at 11pm and do very well. It's a perfectly written script. NBC will undoubtedly be kicking themselves for this within a year or two.
