Anything upbeat, be it rock/country/dance/pop. The longer the playlist and variety, the better IMO.
Actually, the Flames CD I made (the song list provided on the official site) has become my de facto workout cd.
Sometimes I'll switch off for some music without any lyrics (ie: Gotan Project, Bond). If I'm sick and tired of everything I've got, I'll listen to foreign radio stations on the web (usually French radio). A friend of mine never goes a workout session without doing crunches to Ingrid's "Tu es foutu"
I just stay away from rap and R&B like it's the plague. :P
