I can only imagine being on some 8 hour flight, paid in advance for a seat selection, arriving at the airport 4 hours in advance of the 16 security checks they do, only to find I'm the schlump who was moved to row 46, middle seat because a couple of yuppy parents wanted 8 hours alone from their kids just to get drunk on champagne in first class.

Or maybe the child is on his/her way back to their families home, sitting alone, because his/her parents just died on vacation and now has no family to raise him, or SIT beside him on the plane ride home....
Do you always jump to conclusion to make you happiest and try to defend your point, then end up looking like a ######? That person who makes a huge scene, and a FA leans over and whispers in your ear, his parents just died...
Suck it up, the airline will refund your damn $10, and probably give you damn good service for sacrificing the seat.
