Good post. I read an article somewhere - maybe ESPN, maybe somewhere else? - alluding to the fact that something like this was going on. Also stated that it was interesting that everything - from McGuire's, to MLB's, to St. Louis, to etc etc - just seemed ready to go and conveniently fell into place. He's apologized because he wants back in baseball, he's apologized because its a way for MLB to "respond to the Mitchell report" (no punishment, more reconciliation, etc). The article likened even his approach - generally its all b/c of injury recovery - to that of the successful approach of Andy Petite and how that worked for him so well.
